Nikon Z 105 MC AF is excellent!

Posted by James Eads on November 28, 2023

I was pleasantly surprised to see how fast and accurate the focus works on this lens. I am shooting with a Z9 and the lens just makes things easy to shoot. I received the lens and took a couple of test shots of flowers and bees. Squirrels showed up for some treats and again the lens nailed focus instantly. Love the Z 105 MC and the Z9 combo.

Tack sharp; good for portraits too

Sharp as a tack, good flat field for macro, and superb for portraits as well (though you may need to do some skin smoothing; it's that sharp).

    versatility extraordinaire!

Posted by cello caruso on November 11, 2023

so, i bought this lens originally to accompany me on scuba dives — for nudibranchs, hawkfish, things of that nature — but before i could even go diving i realized that it's capable of SO MUCH! when it first came, i immediately went to my garden to shoot some flowers and bees, as one does with a macro. barely an hour later, i realized i had to go shoot my school's musical, and with this being the fastest lens in my kit, i immediately headed over there with this. it performs so well in every condition! i know that the main "drawback" people give for this lens is that "the focusing is slow," which to me is a good thing. the only negative things i've noticed while using this is that my hands are too shaky to get good insect pictures, and that (to my knowledge) the display on it doesn't support the imperial system.

    The one lens.

Posted by Jon Steinhauer on November 10, 2023

I have a diverse set of primes and a 100-400, but more than nine out of ten of my images are with this lens, close up or otherwise. If I could have only one, this would be the one.

    Yay to a new lens

Posted by Shelton Malzar on November 8, 2023

I only recently received my new lens, but I am thrilled with its performance to date. Another plus is now that I no longer have to use a FTZ converted my set up is now much lighter for my macro photography.

    Hard working lens

Posted by Anonymous on October 17, 2023

I shoot people/ portraits/street/events. I have a mid zoom of course but my primes are my favorites. This lens has a beautiful look to portraits and allows me to be just far enough away to get plenty of candids. The macro with the same lens I take “b roll” shots as atmosphere to the portraits. Really impressive glass. I’ve used Nikons for a half Century and always found the glass to be exceptional. Recently worked with Sony glass and found it lacking even though it was smaller and wider aperture. DONT be fooled by stats use the best. When your culling you’ll appreciate the quality

    Z mc 105 macro

I had the 105 for my dslr so I know it is a great lens. So I got the Z 105 and it is even more amazing. I just love Nikon cameras and lenses.

One of the sharpest lenses in my kit! I was apprehensive about the build quality being mostly plastic compared to previous versions but the construction is solid and the lighter weight is immediately noticeable. The electronic manual focus does take time to get used to but focus with the Z8 highly accurate and I very rarely manual focus so this is a minor issue for me personally. It is longer than the previous 105mm F version but when you add the FTZ adapter to the F mount lens the 105mm Z is slightly shorter overall.
