    No interval shooting option.

Posted by Niveditha Krishnakumar on March 8, 2023

The camera is good for low budget but the main problem is, it doesn’t support interval shooting. Even external remote doesn’t work with this. It’s very difficult to make Timelapse images with this camera.

Great beginner camera for entry into the DSLR world

Posted by Iwafuchi on December 21, 2022

Overall, I loved the D3500 when I purchased it 2+ years ago. It's a great entry level camera to the DSLR world. The kit lens worked well. Add a wider F stop lens and you can get some great night-time photos. Astrophotography was OK, but once I got the ISO past 3200, I started to get too much noise for my personal taste. My night photos were using a 35mm, F/1.8 lens. I've upgraded to a Full Frame Nikon, but the D3500 is a great camera to start learning the Manual exposure triangle.Only issues I had was with using the Snapbridge app to do delay timed shots, but easily fixable buy going into Self-Timer mode with a 2 second delay.

    Great for studio use also

Posted by JOSEPH CHAN on January 12, 2022

Great price and features for 24mp camera. Easy to use, The quality of pictures shot in the studio looks good or at home. Turn off the auto ISO for indoor use since using flash and the photos look great.

Great Starter Camera , Until you need more than what it can provide, Or if you are expecting true remote functionality.

Posted by Adam Byers on July 11, 2021

Great Camera UNTIL you want true remote function, Especially with an external monitor. The snapbridge app works alright IF you're there to actually be behind the camera to adjust the settings then use the "snapbridge remote" Like taking slow shutter low light shots of the moon or night shots and want to reduce any amount of vibration, it'll definitely do that just fine, Want to take a few shots of yourself with it tripod mounted, Then you're shooting blind until it "downloads" the picture you just took, Sometimes the Snapbridge app can be unresponsive . My biggest gripe is i can't tripod mount it and use the remote Photography function and get an actual live view even With a external monitor plugged in via Hdmi the app won't allow the connection because the camera is in use , Or the app completely overrides what's on the external monitor and cuts off the feed, There are no actual remotes for this camera other than the smartphone app and it can leave a funny taste in your mouth. Now that we've gotten the bad things out of the way , Now here's the good things about it . Other than that Bang for the buck it's an amazing Starter camera with the two lens kit. i've taken some amazing pictures with it from everyday all around shots to some Wildlife photography with Just the lenses in the kit, Mostly birds and squirrels around my area , Some Moon shots here and there that sort of thing. It has a nice grip on it, And the right amount of heft for steadying your shots without a tripod like most Dslrs. The battery life is pretty decent, And if you're a manual or even auto setting kind of person it has a "fair" amount of both. I prefer manual settings as i started on old-school 35mm cameras. And it's just enough to keep me satisfied settings wise . If you need a starter camera on a budget this is a great camera, If you need more advanced functions you probably want to go up a model or two.

Great, but a few small flaws

Posted by Bryce Carithers on February 21, 2021

Great output, good build and handling, but wish it had more controls. I love and hate my d3500. But, for what it is its amazing. 14 ev of dynamic range for only 500 bucks. Its great, but youll outgrow it quickly if you shoot video or action. I wish it had more physical controls. Going back to my d3500 from my d600 can be annoying with having to dig through the menus to adjust almost anything

I love the camera, but the bluetooth is from the dark ages, no one should have to pair the camera manually, Nikon have a lot more work to do- to connect to smart devices. i am disappointed with their app.

    Gateway to a Pro Setup

Posted by StrobiWanKanobi on January 27, 2020

Nikon absolutely KILLED IT with this model. The user-friendly layout was an easy transition for me from Canon. The functionality is limitless! However, you do have to spend quality time in each specific mode under each specific setting to get the full potential from this unit but the patience can be rewarding. Ive been places where people have knocked the camera solely on being a cheaper-end DSLR and they couldn´t be more wrong. I recommend balancing lens choice since the stock 18-55 has limitations BUT, for growing your equipment, you wont need to upgrade the camera anytime soon. Ive done portraits, BW, Landscape, Macro, everything! and this camera tackles it all!!! If you need a cost-effective travel buddy, look no further
