Beautiful Lens
Posted by Peter on November 24, 2021
Purchased this lens with my D850 and the sharpness of the image through the view finder is amazing, and images so far produced has exceeded my expectations for clarity. The lens is lighter than my 28 to 300 that I replaced it with.

Lightweight Wonder
Posted by Tim1950 on June 18, 2019
While waiting for my new 500mm PF lens, I decided I needed a telephoto lens to carry me over until whenever my new lens will get to my camera store here in Oregon. Well, the 300mm f/4 PF is a great choice! Sharp images and paired with my 1.4 TC and my D500 body, gives me the reach to capture wildlife including small birds. I can only hope the 500mm f/5.6 PF performs as well! It is so nice to carry this lightweight wonder on hiking trips and not get weighted down like I did with my 200-500mm f/5.6.
P.S. Please let the the PF lens crafters know to send my 500mm PF lens to Focal Point Photography in Dallas, Oregon, before my Alaska wildlife trip in September! -

Excellent lens.
Posted by Jetranger on August 24, 2018
I bought this lens as a small addition to my daily bag. Since it is so small, I carry it all the time, and I am able to use it many times when I would normally have needed a backpack to carry my 300/2.8. It is a great addition to my gear. You can´t use a lens you don´t have with you. For that this lens is superb. It is sharp, and can be used with all 3 TC´s. I highly recommend this lens.

A small package for great pictures
Posted by jcbirding on August 12, 2018
I use this lens with or without TC 14 III on d7500 a SB-5000. I selected this one mainly for birding. As I walk quite a bit, I needed a kit that would be light and excellent. It´s exactly what I found with this lens. The quality is without compromises, I can only say that I am more than satisfy with this product and I can only recommend it.

Lightweight Gem with VR
Posted by Dphoto on March 23, 2017
A lightweight 300 mm with VR and very good image quality. I´d say the build quality is very good as well. I dropped it once abut 3 feet onto ceramic tile and it wasn´t fazed.First time I remember dropping a lens and hopefuly the last. Paired with the D500 its great for wildlife and birds.

This Lens Is A Game Changer For Sports and Wildlife
Posted by Scripps23 on December 1, 2016
The new Nikkor 300mm f/4 lens, with its fresnel glass element, is like no other telephoto lens. Not only is this lens extremely sharp, its reduced size and weight allow for much greater mobility and conservation of energy. Its mind boggling to think that you can now run around and take quality telescopic photos without a tripod and with little to no effort. On my Nikon D500 camera body, and with the use of a Nikkor TC-14E II and TC-17E II teleconverter, I achieve equivalent focal lengths of 450mm, 630mm, and 765mm.

Great for Offshore and Forest Bird Photography
Posted by NBRidger on November 28, 2016
Boats are unstable platforms, and birds come by with no warning, when one is far from land. A lurch can send you wobbling and potentially with a collision in store for your camera. In these conditions the Nikon 300 PF lens is incredibly useful. Much lighter than any alternative; more easily protected from salt spray and those bruising lurches against parts of the boat, and wonderfully sharp, it is the perfect lens for imaging shearwaters, albatrosses, gannets, etc. And when walking for a few hours in a forest, the light weight of this lens means it is still at the ready instead of in the pack. If the forest light is dim, the stabilizing unit is really wonderful. Taken tack-sharp images as low as a third of a second. This ´´magic´´ lens has extremely high internal contrast, fast autofocus, and indeed to me is the highest level for the modern lensmaker´s art when it comes to usability. It is SUPERB when used with a 1.4x teleconvertor, at least in my experience, even when looking at an image made wide open, pixel by pixel. It gives you the potential for making truly stunning images hand-held. I have other great lenses like the14-24, and recent 70-200, but nothing is as exciting to me as this 300 pf f/4 especially on a body like the D7200 when razor-sharp wildlife photos can be produced. This lens helps you get the job done, instead of getting in the way.
