    Wonderful fisheye

Posted by Zenon Kozak on December 22, 2022

Optically great fisheye, very sharp on Z7, even wide open. It has surpassed my expectations in that regard. However I don’t see myself using it at any focal lengths other than 15mm. I wish there was a prime option (the 16mm D won’t allow autofocus with FTZ), or at the very least, a focal length locking switch. I would gladly trade off the zoom feature for a wider aperture. I hope in the future there will be a 15mm 2.8 Z Fisheye.

That aside, this is a wonderfully fun lens to use for concerts and events, and the odd architectural shot.

    Almost Perfect

Almost perfect. Sharper than any fisheye I've owned (several!). Love the versatility of having a circular and full-frame fisheye effect in the same lens. My only gripe is the borders at 8mm (see attached).

WOW..! This is a beauty and amazingly sharp lens. I was very impressed. Your possibilities are endless with what you can do with this lens. I am often asked, ´´How did you?´´

Cons: You may not want to use any other lens for awhile.

    Specialty Lens That Redefines Composition

    Posted by Scripps23 on July 18, 2017

This new fisheye zoom lens, Nikon´s first, may be a specialty lens, but it can be used for many situations if you are willing to reconsider the parameters of composition. The lens is extreme sharp. Below is a circular image, the result of the lens´s 8mm focal length that provides a 180 degree field of view both horizontally and vertically. The below rectangular image, the result of the lens´s 15mm focal length, provides a 180 degree field of view only vertically.

super sharp lens, circular on fx at 8mm, rectilinear without any vignetting on fx at 14mm. not circular on dx.
